School of Forest Resources and Conservation
Information for Students

If you are a prospective new student – welcome! Please spend some time viewing the various pages of this web site, where you can find information about our graduate curriculum, the outcomes you can expect from your graduate program and from particular courses, the focus of our major research programs, and the research conducted in laboratories of the various faculty members.

Either use the link to "People" above or from the FAS home page (home), to find faculty web pages. Also look at the information under Courses and Core Competencies below, and take some time to become familiar with opportunities at UF beyond FAS. In particular, consider the wide range of opportunities for course work in other academic units that can be incorporated into your program of study to enhance your educational experience.

There are over 200 faculty at UF who work on water-related issues, so depending on your particular interests, your graduate research might be highly focused or broad and inter-disciplinary. You are strongly encouraged to correspond with FAS faculty whose interests match your own, by e-mail, telephone or in person. Having a particular faculty advisor who accepts you into their program is a prerequisite for acceptance into the FAS graduate program.

If you decide to apply, use the link below to obtain the necessary details of the process. For additional information about the FAS graduate program please contact Prof. Charles Cichra, Graduate Coordinator (fish@ifas.ufl.edu) or Prof. Tom Frazer, Associate Direrctor, SFRC (frazer@ufl.edu). Students interested in an undergraduate minor in FAS should contact Prof. Shirley Baker (sbaker25@ufl.edu). We also recommend that you visit the website of the graduate student organization (SURF) for information from the students' perspective.    Thank you.
