University of Victoria

B.Sc. Zoology, 1984
University of Alberta

Dr. Parkyn joined UF Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences in 1999 and is currently a Research Associate Professor. His interests include the sensory and environmental physiology of aquatic organisms, as well as fish behavior with respect to migration and predator-prey detection. He is involved in several studies of movements, diet and tolerances of Gulf of Mexico sturgeon. He has also conducted research on the general population biology, growth, and physiology of coastal fishes such as grunts and drum. Dr. Parkyn is a member of the American Fisheries Society, the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, and the International Society for Neuroethology.
