Each year the department holds a two-day Symposium during which each of our graduate students gives a presentation on his or her research. Students summarize their ongoing research or give longer presentations (exit seminars) if their research is completed. New students discuss their proposed research projects. The Symposium is held at Mace Lodge, at the Austin Carey Research Forest. Faculty, staff and graduate students (and Deans when their schedules permit) attend the Symposium. The Symposium is organized and run by a student committee with Dr. Debra Murie as Faculty Coordinator and Dr. Shirley Baker as Faculty Co-Coordinator. We present the Abstracts of the students' presentations from the this year's Annual Graduate Student Symposium (which were also printed in a proceedings of the Symposium) here to show the types and breadth of student research in our department. Students carry on both laboratory and field research and work in a range of environments, from freshwater to coastal and marine. Abstracts are arranged in alphabetical order and are divided into three pages. Click below on "Abstracts" to read them. |
