A Biosecurity Program for Florida Aquaculture Producers

Gold Level - Maximum Security

All Bronze and Silver Level criteria in addition to the following criteria are required to meet the Gold Level.

Record Keeping

List of Standard Operating Procedures available (e.g., animals, feed, personnel, and visitors)

Footbaths, hand wash, and tire wash records

Quarantine records (e.g., animal status, in/out dates, behavior, disease, and treatments)

Post-Quarantine records with on-farm animal distribution noted

Feed storage location and feed condition records

Water quality records during disease outbreaks

Inventory of incoming reagents for test kits and equipment

Farm Intervention Points

Chemical expiration dates and storage protocols noted

Behavior/Feeding activity, appearance, and water quality records

Feed stored properly for food type (e.g., frozen/live/prepared)

Goldfish/Koi not used as feed

Non-goldfish/koi fish that are used as live feed quarantined for 30 days prior to feeding with a random health analysis performed and treatment if required

Incoming fish transport water disinfected prior to release

Routinely monitor fish health (e.g., feeding activity, appearance, behavior)

Adjust stocking rates as needed

Disinfect effluent water

Screen retention/detention ponds
